Schulze and it was rebranded under the current name in 1983. The Canadian electronic store Future Shop was acquired by the chain in 2001 for C$580 million and the following year Best Buy opened their first 8 stores in Ontario.

Today, there are around 200 locations across Canada including 8 in Edmonton and 10 in Calgary.
