Maya November 19, 2020 Loved by Mirl and Heather Your wings were ready but our hearts were not 이동 봉사자를 찾습니다! 대한항공으로 토론토에 오실 때 강아지를 데 려와주시면 유기견에게 새 삶을 선물해 주실 수 있습니다. [email protected] 34 November/December 2022 In the summer of 2020, we started to notice that Maya was frequently out of breath and tired. One day when we came back after a walk in the park, she became quite distressed, so we went to the emergency vet. Maya remained in the hospital for two days while they worked to stabilize her. We received the bad news that she had a heart condition that could not be fixed, with fluid forming around her heart and in her lungs. The emergency vet advised us at the time that she would probably only live for another 3 months, even with medication. They were pretty accurate - she lived another 7 weeks and then died at home November 19, 2020. This sad chapter closed with Maya being buried in a pet cemetery on a lovely Christmas tree farm in Lyndon, Ontario. Mirl was very anxious to adopt another dog right away, but Covid was just starting, and no dogs were available. Eventually KOCA offered us Juliette, who appears to be a mix of terrier and some silky-haired breed). We renamed her Dulcie. She was quite frightened when she first came to our house - she ran away from us for several days and had no interest in her food, and we had to keep the harness on her so we could catch her for food and walks. Dulcie was not very used to going outside for walks and was uncertain what to do, and she was also quite scared. She had to learn to go to the bathroom outside rather than using pee pads, which was a new experience for her. With positive reassurance, Dulcie has become more comfortable being independent in the house and going for walks. She often looks to Dooli for guidance on behaviour. She is also very interested in rabbits and squirrels, which seems to confirm that she is part terrier. She's still uncertain about many things but has learned to greet us enthusiastically when we come back to the house or call her to come down for dinner or walking. She enjoys being petted on her own terms, when ready. Her hair is a bit longer now, so she is learning to accept grooming with a brush, but it's still a somewhat scary experience for her. She's very quiet, and never barks - we may have only heard her bark once at the back door when she wanted to come in. W
